What Amazonia Is About
Saï is a capuchin monkey raised in human hands. The small plane carrying him comes down over the Amazon, and the monkey gets out of his cage to find himself in the middle of untouched forest. He knows nothing: what is edible, where to drink, what to run from. A jaguar, a caiman, a boa, a tapir and a giant otter come at him in turn. There is only one way to survive, and that is to find a group of his own kind. Thierry Ragobert's film has no dialogue; the story runs on images. Eighty-three minutes. It was shot in 3D and closed the Venice Film Festival. Ragobert spent years before this making documentaries with Jacques Cousteau's team.
