Anandi Gopal

Anandibai Joshi lived in India. The period is the nineteenth century. Educating women was not looked on kindly in those years. Anandi wanted to study anyway. Her husband Gopal stood with her. He taught her to read and write himself. That stand drew anger from those around them. Both of them were shut out. Anandi decided to study medicine, which meant leaving the country. She qualified as a physician in the end. She is held to be the first Indian woman doctor. The film builds a love story more than a life story, with the couple standing together at its centre. Bhagyashree Milind and Lalit Prabhakar appear in the hundred and thirty four minute film, an Indian production Sameer Vidwans finished in 2019.
