What Angelique and the King Is About
The third film in the Angélique series with Michèle Mercier; starting here leaves out who she is and why she is looking for her husband. This time Angélique is at the court of Louis XIV. The king takes an interest in her and asks her to persuade the Persian ambassador into a treaty, an errand that turns out far more dangerous than it looked. Meanwhile she has not given up tracing Joffrey, the husband everyone believes dead. A typical sixties French costume adventure: court intrigue, swords, abduction and rescue. Its view of its heroine has dated.
