What Vengeance of the Three Musketeers Is About
Milady de Winter, out to settle the score for her defeat, moves with the backing of Rochefort, the Cardinal's man. Her plan serves two purposes at once: revenge on d'Artagnan and what the Cardinal wants, which is a war between France and England. To get it she abducts Constance and draws the musketeers into a trap of her own construction. Bernard Borderie's 1961 film continues the Three Musketeers he had made the same year, covering the second half of Alexandre Dumas's novel. Gérard Barray plays d'Artagnan and Mylène Demongeot plays Milady. Swords, horses and court intrigue, from the most fluent period of French costume adventure.
