What The Fighting Musketeers Is About
D'Artagnan comes back from England with a message for the queen: Buckingham has declared himself ready to attack France in order to free Anne of Austria. Before the message reaches Paris, D'Artagnan is arrested and thrown into the Bastille. Athos, Porthos and Aramis look for a way to get their friend out. Against them are Cardinal Richelieu's men and Milady, who is set on carrying her own score all the way through. Bernard Borderie directs, adapting Alexandre Dumas's novel; it is the second of a two-part series. Gérard Barray plays D'Artagnan and Mylène Demongeot plays Milady. A hundred and two minutes. Among the biggest earners of the French swashbucklers of the sixties: fast, colourful and built entirely on action.
