What Anna Lucasta Is About

Anna has been living by working the street since her father threw her out of the house. Years later her family calls her back, but the reason is not that they miss her: they plan to marry her off to a well off acquaintance and get at his money. Anna comes home and makes decisions of her own that spoil their arithmetic. The film was made at the end of the fifties with a cast made up entirely of Black actors, which was on its own an unusual thing at the time. It was adapted from the play by Philip Yordan. Eartha Kitt and Sammy Davis Jr. appear in Arnold Laven’s ninety seven minute American film, completed in 1958.
