Ape and Super-Ape

The documentary compares human and animal behaviour. It is built in two halves. The first half is given over to animals. The behaviour of various species is observed. The camera watches them at length. The images speak without commentary stepping in. The second half moves to people. The same gaze is turned on us this time. Human behaviour is set beside that of the animals. The documentary asks what the two have in common. It also asks where the differences begin. Anton Koolhaas wrote the text. He read the narration himself as well. Anton Koolhaas reads the text of the hundred and four minute documentary. It is a Dutch production Bert Haanstra finished in 1972.
