Art of Conflict: The Murals of Northern Ireland

The documentary takes up the murals of Northern Ireland. The paintings stand in the streets, on the side walls of houses. The period of conflict there is called the Troubles. Those years were violent. The murals are an expression of that. The film talks with the painters who make them. It asks the people who live there as well. Politicians are among those who speak. The effect of the paintings is discussed. What purpose they serve is asked. What becomes of them next is taken up too. The documentary treats the street art as testimony. Vince Vaughn narrates. The director is his sister. The filming was spread over seven years. Gerry Adams and Danny Devenny appear in the seventy three minute documentary. It is an Irish, American and British production Valeri Vaughn finished in 2012.
