Athiradi

Samkutty is a college student whose energy never runs out. He decides to revive a festival banned years earlier at his school. The decision produces excitement in one group and anger in another, and a rivalry quickly starts between them. What was planned as a celebration turns step by step into chaos; the administration gets involved, old grievances open up, and the festival becomes an event in its own right. Arun Anirudhan uses the familiar structure of the Malayalam campus comedy: a large ensemble, group rivalry, and an organisational disaster that keeps growing. The narrative does not idealise youthful energy; the reason for the fight around the festival is not the festival. Basil Joseph plays Samkutty. Tovino Thomas and Vineeth Sreenivasan are also in the cast. Who it's for: Viewers who like Malayalam comedy, campus narratives, and films with large ensembles. Who it's not for: There are many characters and some are left undeveloped. The structure is also familiar, with few surprises.
