What Because, Because of a Woman Is About
A young man has made a habit of collecting conquests. One morning, leaving the house of one of his mistresses, he runs into a woman he used to know. Out of revenge she informs on him to the police: she says he is the murderer of her fiancé, found dead that same morning. To clear himself the man goes after the person he believes to be the real killer, and in that search his mistresses and the women he meets along the way help him. The film uses the light register of French comedy in the sixties and treats the crime as a pretext. Jacques Charrier plays the lead in Michel Deville’s hundred and sixteen minute French film, completed in 1963.
