What Death in a French Garden Is About
A young guitar teacher starts giving lessons to the daughter of a wealthy family and is soon in an affair with the wife. At the same time a neighbour who watches him and a hitman who appears complicate everything, and the more he tries to work out who knows what and who is using whom, the further into the trap he goes. Michel Deville builds the tension not with gravity but with a playful, mocking tone. It won the Cesar for direction. Our record's summary garbles the setup.
