Becoming Al Pacino

The documentary tells the story of the American actor Al Pacino, which begins in the Bronx in New York, and the road that leads from there to fame across the world. The rise is fast, but the film shows it not as a smooth line of success rather as an uneven and at times stormy passage. The account also looks at acting itself: at how a person carries the place he came from into his parts. Because it is a short television work, the film chooses to tell not a whole life but a period of forming. Archive footage and scenes from films are placed side by side so that the story the actor tells about himself is compared with what he is on the screen. Jean-Baptiste Peretie’s fifty three minute French documentary was completed in 2022.
