What Behind the Sun Is About

1910, in the dry interior of Brazil, where a blood feud runs between two families. Tonho's older brother has been killed and it is his turn: his father wants the revenge taken. Tonho knows that if he kills, his life splits in two, the twenty years he has lived and the few days before the other family comes for him. His younger brother wants him out of the system. A small travelling circus arriving in the area shows that another life might be possible. Salles adapted it from a novel by the Albanian writer Ismail Kadare and moved the story to Brazil.
