What Big Men Is About

The documentary follows what turns around an oil field found off the coast of Ghana. Rachel Boynton got in beside both the American company executives and the Ghanaian officials, and in the same period filmed armed groups in the Niger Delta. The account shows step by step whose interest a newly found resource serves and what it leaves to whom. Nobody is made out to be wholly bad or wholly right; everyone wants their share, and that wanting looks the same at every link in the chain. How the fate of a country turns on the finding of oil is told from inside the contracts and the elections. The ninety nine minute American documentary was completed in 2014.
