What Boynton Beach Club Is About
The residents of an adult community in Florida turn to one another for support and company after the deaths of their spouses. Lois has a rejuvenating affair with a younger man while being the closest friend of Marilyn, recently widowed. Jack takes up with Harry for a crash course in living alone and meanwhile tries to deal with Sandy’s interest in him. The film does not present old age as an ending; it tells of desire, of embarrassment and of how hard beginning again is, all at once. The account makes a fool of none of its characters. The passage between grief and returning to life is not hurried. Brenda Vaccaro and Dyan Cannon appear in Susan Seidelman’s hundred and five minute American film, completed in 2005.
