Professor Brian Cox What Brian Cox: Seven Days on Mars Is About
The documentary follows the physicist Brian Cox through a seven day stretch in which NASA opens its doors to him. The search for signs of life on the surface of Mars by the rover named Perseverance stands at the centre of the account. Cox describes step by step the journey the rover makes in those days and what the incoming data means. The film turns a scientific curiosity into a story of waiting, moving between the rooms where decisions are taken and the pictures coming back from the surface of the planet. Whether life was found is left open and the account declares no conclusion. The seven days are the film’s own frame and everything is tied to it. Michael Lachmann’s eighty nine minute British documentary was completed in 2022.
