Come See Me in the Good Light

Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley live in a house in Colorado. Both are poets; they read on stage and know each other's texts. Gibson is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The documentary follows the course of treatment: the hospital, the drugs, the hair loss, good news and bad. But the film is not built as a story of illness. Two people talk, joke, argue and write poems. Gibson takes death as a direct subject in the writing and reads it on stage. Ryan White directs. Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley appear. It was filmed at their house in Longmont between January 2024 and December 2024; the cancer had been diagnosed in 2021. Their friends Tig Notaro and Stef Willen contacted the production team to get the project started. Sara Bareilles and Brandi Carlile are among the executive producers; the two wrote a song for the film with Gibson. It was shown at Sundance on 25 January 2025 and won the festival's audience award; it was released on 14 November 2025. The film was nominated for the Oscar for documentary feature. The narrative uses stage recordings and the poems set its structure. Its limit is the watching; the subject is extremely heavy and the narrative stands very close to those in it.
