Can Dialectics Break Bricks?

The film is built on a Hong Kong martial arts picture. The images come from that film. A completely different soundtrack was written over them. The new text sets up a political argument. The fighting on screen becomes a class conflict. On one side are the workers. On the other stand the bureaucrats. The account calls this state capitalism. The workers use dialectics as a weapon. The bureaucrats defend themselves in two ways. One is drawing opponents into their own ranks. The other is plain violence. The film came out of situationist circles. What it says is the film’s own view. Raoul Curet and Jacques Thébault provide voices in the ninety minute film, a French production René Viénet finished in 1973.
