Case Closed: Countdown to Heaven

The fifth film in the series. The children are invited to one of a pair of newly built twin towers in Tokyo, where a run of murders and a bomb are waiting in the same building. Conan has to identify the killer and find a way out. Its place in the series is slightly different, because members of the Black Organization enter the story and Conan ends up in their vicinity. For anyone following the main arc that gives it a weight beyond a standalone mystery. Kenji Kodama directed. It opened in Japan in 2001 and became one of the highest grossing entries in the series to that point. Its flaw is that the mystery itself is simple and guessable compared with other entries, with the real weight in the action and the escape. Children wandering the building alone also strains belief. Who it is for: followers of Conan and fans of large scale action sequences. Who it is not for: anyone watching purely for the detection.
