What Catching the Sun Is About
Shalini Kantayya’s documentary tells the race to lead the clean energy future through three lives. On one side are unemployed Americans entering a solar jobs training programme in Richmond, California; on another is Zhongwei Jiang, who founded his own solar company in Wuxi in China; and there is a Tea Party activist as well. Looking at the growth in Germany, India and China, the film asks who wins and who loses the fight over power in the twenty first century. It was Kantayya’s first documentary. It played at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2015 and went onto Netflix in April 2016. Adrian Grenier is among the executive producers.
