Cemetery Man

A cemetery watchman has to deal with the buried getting up again a few days later. He reports it to nobody, because the office he would report to takes no interest in him. The film uses the zombie genre as a pretext; its real subject is a man equally indifferent to the living and the dead. As the narrative proceeds it deliberately cuts its ties to reality, and by the last section what is happening is no longer clear. Michele Soavi directed, with Rupert Everett in the lead. It comes from an Italian comics universe and was long dismissed at home before becoming a cult film. Before watching: it is neither a consistent horror film nor a consistent comedy, moving between the two and ending without explanation. If you would count that as a fault, stay away.
