Chicago Boys

The documentary takes up a group of economists who shaped the economy of Chile. In the fifties these men became students of Milton Friedman in Chicago. In the seventies, under the dictatorship of Pinochet, they got the chance to apply their ideas in the country. For the first time the film has them describe that process in their own words. The directors use footage and testimony not seen before. The same men now look at the discontent in the country with surprise. The film’s case is that Chile today is a picture of both success and discontent, and that assessment is the film’s own. The eighty five minutes are spread over a long history. The Chilean documentary by Rafael Valdeavellano and Carola Fuentes was completed in 2015.
