Close Relations

Vitaly Mansky was born in Ukraine. His family is scattered across the country. The documentary follows him as he visits them. The journey begins in May 2014. It runs to May 2015. The Maidan uprising is the background to all of it. He goes to Lviv. He stops in Odessa. He enters the separatist area in the Donbas. He also goes to Sevastopol in Crimea. He talks with his mother, his grandfather and his aunts. Each of them sees the same events from a different place, and the film shows the politics from inside one family. The hundred and twelve minute documentary is a Ukrainian, Latvian, German, Estonian and Russian coproduction Vitaly Mansky finished in 2016.
