Cock and Bull

A murder is committed in a small village in Yunnan. Suspicion lands on Song Lao'er, a mechanic known for his honesty. The police find him a convenient culprit. He sets out on his own to clear himself. The film tells the same events through three people in turn: the mechanic, an unemployed young man seen with the dead man's scooter, and the boyfriend of a woman working in a bar. Each account rebuilds the one before it. Cao Baoping directs, with Liu Ye and Zhang Yi. The mechanic has a second problem: he will not move his family's graves so that a mining operation can proceed. The film moves back and forth between comedy and crime picture.
