Concert for George

George Harrison died in November 2001. A year later, on 29 November 2002, a concert was held for him at the Royal Albert Hall in London. His wife Olivia and son Dhani organised it, with Eric Clapton and Jeff Lynne as musical directors. The night opened with Indian classical music, continued with a turn from the Monty Python company, and closed with Harrison's songs. David Leland's film records the concert in order and adds footage from the rehearsals. On stage are the music of Ravi Shankar, Clapton, Tom Petty, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. Dhani Harrison sits among the guitarists, in his father's place. The most striking thing about the film is its tone: this is a concert, not a memorial service.
