What Cool It Is About
At the centre of the documentary is Bjørn Lomborg. Lomborg is a Danish statistician. He had written a book on the climate. The film takes off from that book. Lomborg accepts that climate change is driven by human activity. But he objects to the usual proposals for dealing with it. In his view those steps are too expensive. He says they will run to hundreds of billions of dollars. He argues their effect on temperature will stay limited. In their place he suggests other priorities. He puts the fight against malaria and HIV first. He puts access to clean water on the same list. People who take the opposing view appear in the film as well. Ondi Timoner directed the eighty seven minute documentary, in which Al Gore and James Hansen also appear. The American production was finished in 2010.
