What Coroner Creek Is About
A man whose fiancée died during a robbery sets out years later to find those responsible. The trail takes him to a town called Coroner Creek. The man he is looking for is living there as a respected ranch owner, and the town does as he says. The man knows how to wait; he takes work nearby, gets close and bides his time. Ray Enright's western was adapted from a Luke Short novel and shows one of Randolph Scott's harder postwar heroes. It is counted more brutal than most westerns of its period; revenge here is not something that cleanses but a job that eats the man doing it. George Macready is on the other side. It was shot in colour and the locations set the mood of the film.
