What Crazy Love Is About

Three nights out of Harry Voss's life. In the first he is twelve and hears for the first time what love is supposed to be. In the second he is nineteen, going to his graduation dance, and a condition on his face ruins everything. In the third he is thirty-three, alone and given over to drink, and what he does that night takes the film somewhere else entirely. Dominique Deruddere adapted it from Charles Bukowski's writing, and one story in particular. It shows the erosion of hope and innocence in three stops. It became the first Flemish film to get a theatrical release in North America; Francis Ford Coppola championed it, and Deruddere won best director at San Sebastián. It then vanished for a long time and is now counted among the most unjustly forgotten films of the eighties.
