Curly Top

Elizabeth is a small girl living in an orphanage with her older sister Mary. She cannot keep still; she sings, dances, climbs on the tables, and the management has had enough of her. Edward Morgan, a wealthy man visiting to inspect the place, sees her doing exactly this and decides to adopt both sisters. But he keeps his name back and introduces himself as Mr Jones. The two girls suddenly find themselves in a large house with a horse and a piano. Then Morgan realises he has fallen in love with Mary. Irving Cummings directs, with Shirley Temple as Elizabeth. Seventy-five minutes. The song Animal Crackers in My Soup comes from this film. She made it at seven, and it was one of the pictures keeping the studio afloat.
