Daughter of Darkness

Emmy Baudine lives in Ballyconnen and works for the local priest. A carnival comes to the town. There Emmy meets a young boxer called Dan. When Dan expects sexual favours from her she opens his face with her fingernails. Father Corcoran packs her off to Yorkshire in a hurry. There she is taken in by a farming family. In the presence of the opposite sex Emmy feels both fascination and revulsion. For a time she manages to keep those feelings down. Then the carnival comes there too, and Dan finds her, out for revenge. Siobhán McKenna is in the lead of Lance Comfort’s British film of 1948.
