Disturbing the Peace

The documentary is about a group called Combatants for Peace. The group was formed by former Israeli soldiers and former Palestinian fighters. Some of its members served in elite units. Many of the Palestinian members spent years in prison. All of them decided at some point to put down their weapons. They chose action without violence. The documentary tells that change through personal accounts. Those who speak describe why they gave up the gun. Each also passes on his own family’s past. The cost of the conflict on both sides becomes visible. The group argues for a two state solution. The film supports that view. Opposing views find no place in it. The account is built as an advocacy film. Chen Alon and Sulaiman Khatib appear in the eighty six minute documentary. It is an American production Stephen Apkon and Andrew Young finished in 2016.
