What Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Earth Symphony Is About
Kazuaki Imai's 2024 animated film is one of the entries in the long-running Doraemon film series and builds its story on music. A force appears that is trying to erase music from the world, and Nobita and his friends set out to stop it together with a girl found in the remains of a civilisation that runs on musical ability. The pattern the series has followed for a long time holds here too: a small inadequacy, a friendship, and finally a victory won by playing together. What distinguishes it is making music the engine of the story rather than the background, and supporting the orchestra scenes with real recordings. Nobita's incompetence on the recorder is a well-built point of identification for young viewers. Who it's for: families following the Doraemon series and children who like music-themed animation. Who it's not for: adult viewers new to the series, or anyone wanting a story outside the template.
