Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur

At a fossil exhibition Nobita finds an egg among the rocks. Using Doraemon's time cloth he restores it, and two dinosaurs hatch: Kyu and Myu. Kyu cannot fly like the others and is always left behind. Nobita sees himself in him and tries to teach him. When the two must be returned to the time they belong to, the real problem appears: Kyu is not any known species. Kazuaki Imai's film is the fortieth-anniversary production of the Doraemon series and returns to the subject of the first feature from 1980. The narrative centres on failing at something and learning it late; the resemblance between Nobita and Kyu is its main idea. The animation and design are among the most developed in the series. The length and pace are set for a child audience. Who it's for: Doraemon viewers, and anyone who likes children's adventure animation and dinosaur stories. Who it's not for: The structure follows the series template with few surprises. The emotional peaks are also over-underlined by the music.
