What Doraemon: The Record of Nobita, Spaceblazer Is About
The floor of Nobita's room turns into a passage connecting to a distant planet. At the other end are a boy called Lopple and his friend Chammy; the planet they live on is about to be destroyed by a mining company extracting its resources to the last. When Nobita and Doraemon cross over, they discover the low gravity makes them strong, and they decide to stand with Lopple. It is the second Doraemon feature and one of the films that set the series' mould early: a door from an ordinary room into another world, a friend met there, and a goodbye that cannot be undone. The source is Fujiko F. Fujio's manga. For a children's film the subject is directly the exploitation of resources and a company consuming a planet, and the ending is not entirely happy either. It was remade in 2009.
