What Dou kyu sei - Classmates Is About
A student who plays guitar at choir rehearsals starts tutoring a quiet classmate with good marks. Something begins between them and neither knows what to call it. The film does not build the relationship as a crisis; its weight goes to the exam season, the summer heat and the decision each has to make about university. The drawing is kept soft and most scenes pass in silence. Shoko Nakamura directed, adapting Asumiko Nakamura's manga. It runs a little over an hour. Who it's for: those who like calm, measured youth anime. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a wide story; the film covers a short period and leaves it there.
