Dridam

Dridam (2026) is a recent police thriller from Malayalam cinema. It is new enough that no settled opinion exists, and the rating rests on a small number of votes. An officer is posted to a station that appears quiet. Human remains are found shortly afterwards and he is given one week to solve the murder, with pressure arriving from inside his department and from outside it. The setup sits in a vein Malayalam cinema has been doing very well for several years: a large problem in a small place, institutional pressure, and one officer caught between them. Anyone who likes that strand will be curious about this. Shane Nigam leads. He is one of the stronger actors of the younger generation and usually plays more fragile, complicated men than this kind of role suggests. It runs 127 minutes. Good for: Indian police procedurals, Malayalam cinema, and investigation thrillers. Less good for: the film is new, reaction is unsettled, and the score may move. If you want a firm verdict, wait a few months. Murder and the detail of human remains sit at the centre of it.
