Duchacek Will Fix It

Ducháček runs the office of the lawyer Faukner in his own peculiar way and with complete devotion. The office looks after the money of the Rispaldic family, who spend without counting. The family treats its lawyer with condescension, with one exception: their daughter Julia, who is secretly in love with him. Nobody but Ducháček knows that the family has in fact run out of money. Faukner is keeping them going out of his own pocket, because he too is secretly in love with Julia. The comedy comes out of these two secrets being kept at the same time. The film was adapted from a stage play and Vlasta Burian plays Ducháček. Karel Lamač’s eighty six minute Czechoslovak film was completed in 1938.
