What Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) Is About
In the attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015, 130 people were killed; 89 of them were at the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan. The documentary talks to the members of the band: what their lives were before that night, what happened that night, and how they have tried to go on with their lives since. Colin Hanks's documentary does not put the attack on screen and takes no interest in the attackers. Its subject is those who survived and those left behind. Three months later the band returned to Paris and played for the people who had been in the hall that night; the film follows that return as well. The telling builds no heroism and looks at one question: how do you live after this.
