Ek Din Achanak

Shasanka is a retired teacher. He lives with his wife and two daughters. One day he goes out for a walk. He never comes back. The house is thrown into uproar. Nobody knows what happened. The search leads nowhere. The family begins to wait. As time passes the questions change. Each of them goes back over the last hours and days they spent with him. They are looking for a reason, and for a sign they might have missed. What the film is about is what an absence does to the people left behind. Shreeram Lagoo, Shabana Azmi, Aparna Sen and Roopa Ganguly appear in the hundred and two minute film, an Indian production Mrinal Sen finished in 1989.
