Gaurav runs an internet café in Delhi and looks like the superstar Aryan Khanna. He wins local contests impersonating him. For his birthday he decides to go to Mumbai and meet the man. Turned away, he does something to prove himself, and from that moment the star sets about destroying him. The subject is not fandom but a star meeting his own copy. Aryan Khanna is not thirty but fifty; he is occupied with protecting his career and the boy in front of him resembles his younger self. Casting the same actor as both makes the idea physical. The form breaks the genre's expectations. There is no song sequence, a commercially risky decision in mainstream Indian cinema, and the film came in below expectations at the box office. The chase sequences were shot in London and Dubrovnik. The technical problem was the young character's face. Shah Rukh Khan was in his fifties, and Gaurav's face was produced by combining prosthetic makeup with computer work; the process took a long time and delayed the film's release. Who it is not for: anyone who will find the register of the final section excessive; the film moves from thriller into melodrama at the end.
