What Fine Dead Girls Is About

Iva and Marija rent a flat in Zagreb so that they can live together. The building looks quiet at first. In time it comes out that every flat holds a different secret and that the building is run by Olga, the landlady. When Olga learns about the two women's relationship the air in the building changes and the pressure begins. Dalibor Matanić's Croatian film uses the building as the country in miniature: everyone knows about everyone, nobody speaks, and intolerance goes about dressed as neighbourliness. Nina Violić and Olga Pakalović take the leads. The film is counted among the first productions in Croatia to take up homosexuality directly, and it caused argument when it was shown.
