For Grace

As a young man Curtis Duffy got into fights and stole for the thrill of it. A home economics teacher at school saw what he could do and pointed him somewhere. That is how he found his place in a kitchen. Then he suffered a heavy loss in his family, and he held on to cooking harder still. Over the years he came to be counted among the best known chefs in the country. The documentary follows him while he builds his own restaurant in Chicago, called Grace. But that building has a price: his marriage and his two young daughters. The film is about that price more than about food. Mark Helenowski and Kevin Pang’s American documentary, ninety five minutes long, was completed in 2015.
