Foster

The documentary is about the foster care system in the United States. By the figure the film gives, more than four hundred thousand children are in foster care in the country, and the number grows each year. The work also reports that one in eight American children has a confirmed case of neglect or abuse before the age of eighteen. The account runs from inside the child welfare agency in Los Angeles, which is the largest in the country. The film uses what children, families and social workers say for themselves. It does not declare the system good or bad in a single sentence. How a widely misunderstood field looks from the inside is the real subject. The hundred and thirteen minutes are divided among several stories. Mark Jonathan Harris’s American documentary was completed in 2018.
