What Free Floating Is About
In a provincial town like many in Russia there is one kindergarten, one school and one factory; a young person growing up there is never faced with a choice, because everything is settled in advance. Leonid, like everyone his age, goes to the disco, dances with girls and then gets into fights; his life is entirely predictable. Then one day the factory closes and he no longer knows what to do. For the first time he has to make a choice on his own and think about what he actually wants. The film presents that necessity as neither a tragedy nor a triumph. Aleksandr Yatsenko appears in Boris Khlebnikov’s hundred and one minute film, completed in 2006.
