Godforsaken!

The Netherlands, the nineties. In a small town two young men are locked onto each other. The bond between them is the kind nobody else can get inside, and neither has any respect for a rule that falls outside it. They start with small jobs. Then a gun comes in. Then a death. The violence does not come from a plan but from each needing to prove himself to the other, and the point at which they could have stopped keeps falling behind them. The film does not try to explain the crime; it just watches how it happened, step by step. Pieter Kuijpers directs the Dutch film; ninety minutes, with Tygo Gernandt and Egbert Jan Weeber in the leads. It is drawn from a real series of killings in the Netherlands in the nineties. It is Kuijpers's first feature.
