What Güle Güle Is About
Four old friends live on the island: a car mechanic who separated from his wife years ago, a disciplined retired colonel, a withdrawn lover of films, and Galip, who has been writing for years to Rosa, a Cuban woman he saw only once. When it turns out that Galip has cancer, his friends put even their houses up for sale to make him happy once before he dies. The money is still not enough, and the old men decide to rob a bank to find the sum that will send Galip to Cuba. The film tells friendship and old age in a way that makes you laugh and hurts at once. Metin Akpinar and Zeki Alasya appear in Zeki Okten’s hundred and five minute Turkish film, completed in 2000.
