Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil

Vinu works in Dubai and still has not got over a break-up five years ago. His sister is getting married. The groom Anandan is a calm, cheerful man; he and Vinu get on at once. The wedding is to be at Guruvayur, the temple town. The family gathers. Then something comes out: there is an untold section in Anandan's past and it crosses Vinu's own. Over one night in the town the two men try to settle it without letting anyone hear. Vipin Das directs; Deepu Pradeep wrote the screenplay. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Vinu and Basil Joseph plays Anandan; Nikhila Vimal and Anaswara Rajan are in the cast. The language is Malayalam. The film opened on 16 May 2024 and went to streaming on 27 June. It was made for about forty crore and took around ninety crore worldwide; it was the fifth highest grossing Malayalam film of 2024. The matter it treats is a secret; the comedy comes not from a lie growing but from two people carrying the same lie separately. Prithviraj stays away from the action part here and plays on comic timing. Basil Joseph is also known as a director and his acting side comes forward in this film. The narrative uses the wedding preparation as ground; the crowded family scenes set the rhythm. Its limit is length; the second half sags, the jokes repeat, and the ending is rushed.
