I Want My MTV

The documentary takes up the founding of a music channel. The channel is MTV. It began broadcasting on the first of August 1981. On that day the life of a generation changed. The channel brought a new figure to the screen. The presenters called VJs became heroes to the young. The music video found its own form in that period as well. The video was now counted a means of expression. The film tells of the channel’s effect on popular culture. Those who speak come from music and from television. Sting and Billy Idol are among them. Michael Nesmith and Norman Lear are in Tyler Measom and Patrick Waldrop’s American documentary of 2019 too.
