What Sons of Perdition Is About

The documentary follows three teenage boys who have left a closed religious community in Arizona, over two years. A great many young men in that community had been sent away from their homes and their families for things like wearing a short sleeved shirt, listening to music or talking to a girl. Once outside, they have no family, no schooling and nowhere to go, and they try to start from nothing in a nearby town. The film shows them as neither rescued nor lost; what it describes is what it is to be left between two worlds. The eighty four minute American documentary by Tyler Measom and Jennilyn Merten was completed in 2010.
