What I'm Going to Tell You a Secret Is About

Madonna went out on the Re-Invention world tour in 2004. This documentary follows the tour from in front of the stage and from behind it: rehearsals, dancers, travel, the plane, hotel rooms and the same show built again every evening. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the film is not a straight concert record. The tour took place in 2004 while the Iraq War was going on, and Madonna put political references into the show itself; the documentary takes in that choice and the argument that broke out around it. The telling looks in places like an image exercise under its subject's control, and in places genuinely open. The camera does not leave her side through the tour. Guy Ritchie and Michael Moore also appear.
